To duplicate the text object layer, open the Layers panel (Window > Layers). It will no longer be a text object, so you may want to make a copy of the text object in case you want to make any changes to the text later on. Meaning, once we create the outlines of the letters, the only way to get back to the original form is to Undo (Ctrl/Cmd + Z) each step you’ve done. This method is a destructive form of editing. ’ Step 4 - Edit Text as Editable Pathsįor this method of editing text, we will first have to convert the text object into editable paths by creating outlines. When editing text using the Paragraph and Character panels, the text will stay as a text object. Step 3 - Edit Text Using the Paragraph and Character Panels Then you can edit the stroke options in the Stroke panel (Window > Stroke). You can change the stroke color in the same way as the fill color, but make sure you click the Stroke icon in the left toolbar first. You can even fill the text with a gradient. To change the fill color of the text, select a color from the Color panel, the Color Guide panel, or the Swatches panel. Select the font you would like to use in the Control panel at the top and adjust the size. Select the Type Tool (T), click on the artboard, and enter your text.
